Credit Card Companies

I received a letter in the mail from one of my credit card companies saying that they were going to be raising the interest rate on my card. The reason for this is not because I made a late payment, but because of the "extreme economic conditions". This doesn't affect me that greatly because I always pay my bills in full and really use credit only as a convenience. (I can't even imagine going in to the gas station to pay anymore.) However, it struck me that this is really kicking people while they are down if they do carry a balance. The recession saga continues...
